Palletising of newspapers at express speed

Dansk AvisTryk A/S in Copenhagen produces 1.2 million newspapers on a daily basis, equivalent to 120 tons of paper.

Dansk AvisTryk A/S is one of Denmark’s largest, and one of the world’s most modern newspaper printing offices, applying the latest technology available on the market.

The company is among the absolute heavyweights within the industrial printing houses and is printing well-known Danish newspapers such as 24 hours, Dagbladet Børsen, Ekstra Bladet, Helsingør Dagblad, Jyllands-Posten and Politiken.

 

Five rotary presses
The ultra- modern production apparatus now consists of five rotary presses and a fully automatic packing room - the result of a necessary decision taken by the company in 2006 that is was time to automate.

At that time six workers handled the manual palletising of 84 tons newspapers per day, solely to produce one of the papers. 

“We were in a situation where we wanted to expand and we had to comply with the specific regulations within health and safety at work. Economy, high capacity and reliability are keywords that made us decide for the machines from DAN-Palletiser”, says Hans-Jørgen Jensen, site manager, Dansk AvisTryk A/S.

 

Eight fully automatic palletiser solutions

Subsequently, DAN-Palletiser has delivered another three palletisers, and today Dansk AvisTryk has a fully automatic packing room consisting of eight fully automatic palletiser solutions, palletising more than 1 million newspapers every day.

Palletising takes place via two pallet patterns for the formats “tabloid” and quarter “fold”.

“This is a very reliable system which runs 24 hours a day, and the quality of the palletload is nice and straight. Also, the palletisers are very easy and simple to maintain”, says Hans-Jørgen Jensen, site manager, Dansk AvisTryk A/S.

The production runs day and night, seven days a week.
